This is to certify that Mr. Malcolm Grice was elected as

Sanitary Inspector, under the Metropolitan Borough Council of Bethnal Green, on the 21st day of February, 1901, and his appointment was ratified by the Local Government Board.

He resigned his office on the 12th day of August, 1901, having

obtained an appointment as a Senior Sanitary Inspector under

the Government of Hongkong.

During Mr. Grice's tenure of office his duties, which have

been discharged with zeal and discretion and to the entire

satisfaction of the Council, have included the supervision of

the construction of house drains, sewers, and sanitary works,

the control of workmen, estimating and getting out cost of

drainage works, preparation of plans, and the carrying out of

Bye-laws and Sanitary Regulations which have to be enforced by

the Council, as the Local Sanitary Authority for the Borough.
